How the search works
You pick a shape and the page looks for it in the city's streets: it tries it in thousands of places, sizes and angles, builds the route along real streets and tells you how close it is. Everything runs on your phone, no server.
The 3 steps
- What do you want to draw? A shape from the gallery ✨, a letter or number, an image or logo 🖼, or your own drawing ✎.
- Where to search? 🗺 Whole map · 👁 What's on screen (more detail) · 📍 Near a place.
- How big? The shape's width: Mini (130 ft–⅓ mi), Small, Medium, Large or All.
What it does inside
- Scan: places the shape on a grid over the map at every allowed size and angle.
- Tracing: builds the street route for the best candidates (no highways or private roads).
- Refining: nudges, scales and rotates the best ones until they fit.
- One route: joins the parts (an A, a logo) so you can run it without jumps.
How long it takes (mid-range phone)
| Medium, whole map, a city like Medellín or Bogotá | 20–45 s |
| Very large cities (New York, Los Angeles) | 40–60 s |
| 👁 On screen or 📍 Near… | 5–20 s |
| Mini (zoomed in) | 15–40 s |
| All sizes | 1–3 min |
| Quality Fast / Maximum | ⅓ / ×3–10 |
| Any angle (less for symmetric shapes) | up to ×5 |
On phones with several cores (almost all recent ones) the search is shared among up to 4 of them and usually takes half the time in the table or less, with the same accuracy. While it searches, keep the page open and the screen on: if you switch apps, the phone pauses it. The bar shows progress and partial results appear as it goes.
How accurate it is
- % match: 75 % or more looks clear · 60–75 % good · 50–60 % recognizable · under 50 % messy. Off is the average distance between the ideal shape and the route.
- Maps come from OpenStreetMap: real streets, but some may be missing, closed or unsafe. Check the spot with 🗺 (Google Maps satellite) before you go.
- Streets are rarely perfect: straight letters work best in grid neighborhoods, curves (heart, circle) at larger sizes, and small details get lost.
- In big cities the scan is coarser (it says so at the end). For more detail, zoom in and search 👁 On screen.
On the map
- Green: chosen route · purple numbers: the others (tap one to choose it; 👁 shows them all) · ◐ the map turns grey so the shape stands out (tap it to see the streets in colour) · dashed yellow: links between parts · white dot: start · red: finish.
- 🧭 Rotate the map with two fingers (on a computer: Shift + wheel). The compass red needle points north; tap it to put north up again.
- GPX downloads the continuous route with times, ready for Strava, Komoot or your watch.
Tips
- First search Fast on the whole map to see where good shapes appear; then zoom in and search Maximum with 👁 On screen.
- If nothing shows up, lower the minimum match in ⚙ Advanced options, change the size or allow more rotation.
- Simple shapes (few corners) work much better than detailed drawings.
